It’s a good idea to keep a stock of essentials in your cupboard, so you can make a wide variety of meals without running to the shops!
What do we mean by essentials?
Vegan essentials include beans, spices/herbs, sauces and condiments that you’ll use every day for every meal! Don’t add things like soy sauce, maple syrup and peanut butter to your weekly shopping list, just make sure you keep your supply of essentials like these stocked up.
Dairy-free ice cream
Variety of tinned beans (chickpea, lentil, kidney beans, white beans)
Purées (tomato, garlic, ginger)
Spices and herbs
All season/all spice
Vegetable stock cubes
Seeds & Nuts (chia, flax, sesame, sunflower, brazil nuts, almonds, pistachios)
Sweet chilli sauce
Maple syrup /agave syrup
Vegan gravy e.g Bisto
Bolognese sauce (back-up for a lazy dinner)
Vegan lasagne white sauce
Vegan salad dressing
Oil of choice eg. Rapeseed/ coconut oil
Red /white onions
Black strap molasses
