Vegan Business In Sligo Wins Best Free From Café In Ireland

Vegan business, the Sweet Beat Café, has won Best Free From in Connaught and Ireland at the Irish Restaurant Awards this week.

The café provides plant-based, vegan-friendly food including fresh super salads, cold pressed juices, probiotic drinks and living, nourishing food. Owner Carolanne Rushe opened the business in 2015 and it’s gone from strength to strength ever since.

They prepare the food at their Bridge Street café from scratch every morning and source the best quality ingredients from local growers and suppliers.

Sweet Beet was named the Best Vegetarian Restaurant by the Irish Times and the Best Startup in Sligo at Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur Competition in 2016.

Best ‘Free From’ winners are as follows:

Dublin – I Monelli
Connaught – Sweet Beat Café
Leinster – Zucchini’s Restaurant
Munster – Nutrilicious Food Co
Ulster – The Dirty Duck

All-Ireland – Sweet Beat Café

Sweet Beat Café is the only vegan café on the list, but the Nutrilicious Food Co. has vegetarian options and lots of salads to choose from, and The Dirty Duck has an extensive vegetarian menu with options that could easily be made vegan.
